Abstract:
Provided is a boot 1 for constant velocity universal joints, the boot 1 comprising: a large-diameter-side mounting section 4 mounted to the outer peripheral surface of the outer joint member 32 of a constant velocity universal joint 31 and fastened and affixed by a boot band 5; a small-diameter-side mounting section 6 mounted to the outer peripheral surface of a shaft 46 and fastened and affixed by a boot band 5'; and a bellows 3 for integrally connecting the large-diameter-side mounting section 4 and the small-diameter-side mounting section 6. The boot 1 for constant velocity universal joints is characterized in that: a cylindrical shoulder 2 is formed at a bellows-side end of the large-diameter-side mounting section 4; the cylindrical shoulder 2 connects to the bellows 3 through two auxiliary crests 3c and an auxiliary trough 3d located between the auxiliary crests 3c; the radial distance H1 between the auxiliary trough 3d and the auxiliary crests 3c is set to be less than the radial distance H2 between a crest 3a and a trough 3b of the bellows 3; a diameter D1 passing through the center-point Ho of the radial distance H1 between the auxiliary trough 3d and the auxiliary crests 3c is set to be larger than the diameter D3 of the cylindrical shoulder 2; and the auxiliary crests 3c radially overlap each other on the outer peripheral surface of the outer joint member 32 when the constant velocity universal joint 31 has a large operating angle.
