Abstract:
The present invention enables more reliable control, has a simpler configuration, and is easier to maintain. A brake caliper includes: a cylinder in which a piston for pressing a brake pad towards a disk is stored in a displaceable manner, and a cylinder body in which is formed a cavity-shaped storage section that is of a prescribed internal volume and that communicates with the cylinder; brake fluid which is filled into the cylinder and the storage section; an internal volume changing means for changing the internal volume of the storage section by going into and out of the storage section; a driving means for electrically driving the internal volume changing means so as to go into and out of the storage section; and a sensor that is provided to the cylinder body and detects the position of the internal volume changing means. The brake fluid is sealed by the cylinder body, the piston, the internal volume changing means, and the sensor, and is isolated from the outside.
