Abstract:
[Problem] To cause a camera to perform authentication communication with a plurality of accessory devices in a short period of time. [Solution] An imaging device 200 has a camera control unit 205 that controls communication with a plurality of accessory devices 100, 300, the communication being performed using: a signal transmission channel CS used for transmission of signals with the plurality of accessory devices; and a data communication channel DATA used for data communication with the plurality of accessory devices. The camera control unit is capable of performing a first communication, which is data communication with the plurality of accessory devices, and a second communication, which is a separate data communication with a specified accessory device, using the data communication channel. Each time the output of a signal to the signal transmission channel is detected from one accessory device that has not been authenticated by the camera, among the plurality of accessory devices, the signal indicating that the accessory device is on standby for the first communication, the camera control unit performs authentication communication with the one accessory device, and thereby authenticates each of the plurality of accessory devices in turn.
