Abstract:
Provided are: a capacitor electrode which makes it possible to perform charging through a chemical reaction of an active material in addition to accumulation of electric charges, improve the energy density by increasing the electric storage capacity, and firmly hold a sufficient amount of the active material without an adhesive agent; and a capacitor electrode manufacturing method. The capacitor electrode is rechargeable through accumulation of electric charges on the surface thereof in accordance with voltage application, and comprises: a substrate 4 composed of an electrically conductive metal; a carbon membrane 5 composed of a coating of a carbon material formed on the surface of the substrate 4; and nanoparticles 6 each composed of a metal or an oxide thereof enclosed in the carbon membrane 5.
