Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of selectively separating carbon dioxide in the air and reducing carbon dioxide to a carbon-containing compound utilizing light energy and water. This carbon dioxide reducing device comprises: an anode (2) which is a light reaction electrode; a cathode (4) which is electrically connected to the anode (2) and which is a dark reaction electrode immersed in an electrolysis solution (6); and a carbon dioxide separation part (10) for separating carbon dioxide in the air so as to supply carbon dioxide to the electrolysis solution (6). The carbon dioxide reducing device is characterized in that electrons are produced in the anode (2) utilizing light energy, and carbon dioxide separated in the carbon dioxide separation part (10) is reacted utilizing electrons produced in the anode (2) to produce a carbon-containing compound in the cathode (4).
