Abstract:
A stationary magnetic field is applied in the axial direction of a cylindrical CNT and a fluctuating magnetic field is applied to its side, so that eddy current generated in the CNT and the stationary magnetic field generate an electromagnetic force. By periodically changing the direction of the application of the fluctuating magnetic field, the CNT vertically vibrates. Accordingly, this mechanism functions as a nano-actuator. Moreover, by applying the stationary magnetic field and the fluctuating magnetic field in the same direction and periodically changing the direction of application of the fluctuating magnetic field, it is possible to expand and contract the cross section and the length of the CNT so as to function as a nano-pump or a nano-pressure. Furthermore, by using these operations in a combination, the tip end of the CNT makes a circular movement. Accordingly, it is also possible to operate the CNT as a convey mechanism for conveying a nano-size material
