Abstract:
[Problem] The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a catalyst carrier base that includes a beam-shaped flat part which extends to a winding core and in which a hole is formed, wherein fatigue failure of the beam-shaped flat part is suppressed by a simple method; and a catalyst carrier in which a catalyst is carried on this catalyst carrier base. [Solution] Provided is a catalyst carrier base including: a honeycomb body formed by winding a flat foil and a corrugated foil made from metal foil; and an outer cylinder disposed at a position surrounding an outer peripheral surface of the honeycomb body. The catalyst carrier base is characterized in that: a plurality of holes are formed in the flat foil and the corrugated foil; a beam-shaped flat part that is an end section of the flat foil or the corrugated foil extends to a winding core of the honeycomb body; some of the plurality of holes are formed in the beam-shaped flat part; and an inner diameter of the winding core is 3 mm or less.
