Abstract:
The main purpose of the present invention is to provide a catalyst that makes it possible to produce anα,β-unsaturated aldehyde and/or an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid with high selectivity. The catalyst is used in producing, via an oxidation reaction of a hydrocarbon, a corresponding α,β-unsaturated aldehyde and/or α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid, said catalyst comprising molybdenum, bismuth, and cobalt and satisfying expression (I-1). Expression (I-1): (x2-x1)/σ1≤1.5 In expression (I-1), x1, x2, and σ1 are values obtained by binarizing into black and white a backscattered electron image of the catalyst obtained with a scanning electron microscope (SEM) at an acceleration voltage of 15 kV and then performing energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS) analysis. x1 is the bismuth concentration [mass%] of black portions, x2 is the bismuth concentration [mass%] of white portions, and σ1 is the standard deviation of the bismuth concentration of black portions.
