Abstract:
One embodiment of the present invention provides a lithium-rich layered oxide-based cathode active material comprising M1 that is a Group 1 or Group 2 metal, M2 that is a Group 14 and Group 15 element excluding non-metals, and a fourth periodic transition metal. Another embodiment of the present invention provides a lithium-rich layered oxide-based cathode active material comprising N1 that is a Group 1 or Group 2 metal, N2 that is a Group 14 and Group 15 element excluding non-metals, and a fifth periodic transition metal or a sixth periodic transition metal. The cathode active material for a lithium ion battery of the present invention comprises a metal having a fixed oxidation number, and thus has the advantages of having excellent lifespan characteristics while maintaining high energy density and high coulombic efficiency.
