Abstract:

A cemented carbide, including a first hard phase and a binder phase, wherein: the first hard phase comprises tungsten carbide particles; the binder phase includes cobalt and nickel as constituent elements; the binder phase further includes aluminum or chrome as a constituent element; and, when a region bounded by an interface between the tungsten carbide particles and the binder phase at an arbitrary surface or an arbitrary cross-section of the cemented carbide and a virtual line A indicating points 5 nm away from the interface toward the binder phase is a region R1, a region bounded by the virtual line A and a virtual line B indicating points 20 nm away from the interface toward the binder phase is a region R2, and a region of the binder phase outside of the region R1 and the region R2 is a region R3, if a linear analysis is performed with a scope that includes the region R1 and the region R3, which is adjacent to the region R1 across the region R2, the ratio C5/C20 of the maximum atomic concentration C5at% of cobalt in the region R1 and the maximum atomic concentration C20at% of cobalt in the region R3 is greater than 1.
