Abstract:
A chromene compound showing a reduced matrix dependency and having at least one indenonaphthopyran structure which carries a group forming a spiro ring together with the carbon atom at the 13-position, wherein the indenonaphthopyran structure further has an oligomer chain group selected from among a polyalkylene oxide oligomer chain group and a polyester oligomer chain group each having three or more repeating units. Preferably, a chromene compound represented by formula (1) which has at least one of the aforesaid oligomer chain groups per molecule [in formula (1): R1 and R2 represent a group optionally having an oligomer chain group; ring Z attached to the carbon atom at the 13-position in the chromene compound is a spiro ring group; and R3 and R4 represent an aryl or heteroaryl group optionally having an oligomer chain group].
