Abstract:

A modifier for resins for use in coating materials or inks which is characterized by comprising a fatty acid obtained by enzymatically decomposing a vegetable fat or oil; a resin for coating materials or inks which has been modified with the modifier; and a coating material and an ink composition which each contains the resin. The coating material and ink composition can be made usable for electrodeposition or is curable with ultraviolet, and is excellent in film appearance and in topcoat brightness and adhesion.
