Abstract:
The present application relates to the technical field of communications. Disclosed are a communication method and apparatus. The method comprises: a terminal device obtains configuration information of a multicast service, and receives first indication information from an access network device, the first indication information indicating a manner in which the terminal device obtains configuration update information of the multicast service; the first manner being a first manner (i.e., configuration update information of the multicast service is obtained by receiving a common message) or a second manner (i.e., configuration update information of the multicast service is obtained by receiving a dedicated message). The terminal device involved herein can be a terminal device in a connected state. In this way, the terminal device in a connected state can determine, according to the first indication information, which of the first manner and the second manner is used to obtain the configuration update information of the multicast service, so that the first manner and the second manner are prevented from being simultaneously used to obtain repeated configuration update information, the unnecessary reception behavior is effectively avoided, and the power consumption of the terminal device is reduced.
