Abstract:
Embodiments of the present application relate to the field of communications, and provided therein are a communication method, device, and system, which may be used for a network device to configure a capability identifier for a terminal device. The key inventive points of the present invention are: a corresponding capability set is determined with the aid of a capability identifier configured by an existing device manufacturer for a terminal device, such that the terminal device can report capability information on the basis of the capability set, or the network device determines, on the basis of the capability set, a capability set of a required terminal device, such that the terminal device thus no longer needs to report capability information or report all of the capability information to the network device. Therefore, the present invention may greatly reduce the resources consumed by a terminal device in an air interface when an operator configures a capability identifier for the terminal device.
