Abstract:

The present invention relates to a composition or the like for preventing, ameliorating, or treating cancers comprising steppogenin as an active ingredient. The steppogenin of the present invention can inhibit growth of cancer cells by suppressing expression of HIF-1α which is overexpressed in cancer cells, and thus is expected to be useful not only in prevention, amelioration, or treatment of various solid tumor cancers, such as lung cancer, kidney cancer, stomach cancer, etc., but also in inhibition of malignization, recurrence, and metastasis of cancer.
