Abstract:
The prevent invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating neurological and mental disorders, containing syringaresinol. Syringaresinol according to the present invention has effects of reducing excitatory synaptic transmission in the central nervous system and reducing epilepsy and animal activity. The excitatory synaptic transmission inhibitory effect can be effectively used in the prevention and treatment of all neurological and mental disorders accompanied by synaptic dysfunction and excitation-inhibition synaptic transmission imbalance.
