Abstract:
Provided are a concentration device that is for concentrating a liquid specimen and can obtain a concentrated solution of a liquid specimen at a desired concentration ratio, a liquid specimen concentration method using said concentration device, a liquid specimen inspection method liquid that uses said liquid specimen concentration method, and an inspection kit comprising said concentration device. The concentration device is for concentrating a liquid specimen, which is an aqueous solution containing a polymer, and comprises a cylinder in which a particulate, highly water-absorbent polymer is accommodated, and a piston that can be inserted into the cylinder, wherein the cylinder has a liquid holding part at the bottom thereof for holding some of the liquid specimen poured into the cylinder, the highly water-absorbent polymer is accommodated in the cylinder above the liquid holding part and is in contact with the liquid holding part, and the piston comprises a tip that has a hole that is smaller than the particle diameter of the highly water-absorbent polymer after water absorption.
