Abstract:
Provided are: a novel polymer which has a high viscosity index and a favorable friction-reducing effect; a lubricating oil additive comprising said polymer; a viscosity index improver comprising said polymer; a friction-suppressing agent comprising said polymer; an oil composition containing said lubricating oil additive; an oil composition containing said viscosity index improver; and an oil composition containing said friction-suppressing agent. A conjugated diene graft copolymer which includes a main chain (a) comprising a polymer containing a conjugated diene unit, and a side chain (b) comprising a polymer containing one or more monomer units selected from the group consisting of a conjugated diene unit and an aromatic vinyl compound unit, wherein the side chain (b) is bonded to an atom contained in the monomer unit forming the branched section belonging to the main chain (a), the number-average molecular weight of the main chain (a) is at least 5,000, and a hydroxyl group is bonded to the main chain (a).
