Abstract:

[Problem] To enable the control of an on-vehicle electronic apparatus to continue even in cases when, in the control of the on-vehicle electronic apparatus, the execution state of a control program for the on-vehicle electronic apparatus is monitored, and an abnormal execution state is detected in the control program. [Solution] Provided are a device and a method wherein a dedicated program-execution-monitoring circuit which is connected to a CPU of the control device for the on-vehicle electronic apparatus, and which comprises an execution-time-monitoring timer circuit, an execution-sequence-monitoring circuit, a setting register, and other additional circuits is provided, the execution sequence of tasks executed by a control program for the on-vehicle electronic apparatus and/or the execution time from the starting address to the end address of the tasks executed by the control program are/is monitored, and, in cases when an abnormality is detected in the execution sequence and/or the execution time, alternative processing is performed to enable the control of the on-vehicle electronic apparatus, such as an electric power steering apparatus, to continue.
