Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a conveying device and a conveying method whereby an undesirable region of a product can be specified even while a workpiece is being conveyed at a high speed, and the workpiece can be moved to a proper position. [Solution] A conveying device comprising: a conveying means (420) whereby a belt-shaped workpiece (W) having a plurality of reference points (P) aligned noncontinuously in the surface is either conveyed intermittently at predetermined intervals in a first conveying mode or conveyed continuously in a second conveying mode; a confirmation means (450) for confirming the reference point when the workpiece has stopped in the first conveying mode; a detection means (450) for observing the workpiece conveyed by the second conveying mode and detecting the reference point; and a control means (500) for interrupting the first conveying mode when the reference point is confirmed by the confirmation means during the first conveying mode, switching to the second conveying mode when the reference point is not confirmed during the first conveying mode, interrupting the second conveying mode until the reference point is detected by the detection means during the second conveying mode, and switching to the first conveying mode when the reference point is detected during the second conveying mode.
