Abstract:
A cooking device is provided with: a subs-rectangular top plate (1) upon which a container (16) is placed; a top frame (6) which protects the end surfaces of the top plate (1) and is grounded; a heating device (3) which is provided below the top plate (1) and heats the container (16); one or more electrodes (4) provided on the bottom surface of the top plate (1) at locations on the outside of the periphery of the heating device (3); a capacitance detection device (8) which includes an oscillation device for applying an AC signal to the electrodes (4) and detects the amount of increase in the capacitance of the electrodes (4); and a control device (5) which controls the heat output of the heating device (3), detects that liquids have boiled over from the container (16) when the capacitance of the electrodes (4) increases by at least a specified amount, and controls or stops the heat output. The electrodes (4) are provided with: an arc shaped part (12) which is substantially arc shaped when viewed from above; and a linear part (13) which is connected to the arc shaped part (12) in the vicinity of the top frame (6) and extends substantially parallel to the top frame (6) in the vicinity thereof.
