Abstract:
The purpose of this invention is to provide a core position ascertaining method, a connecting method, and a connecting device that can simplify connection work and reduce rotational deviation and positional deviation. This connecting device is provided with a function that can acquire a rotation amount of a multi-core fiber (MCF) during an adhesive fixing step. Specifically, by using an MCF with a line drawn on a lateral surface thereof, this connecting device ascertains a rotational amount of the MCF based on the lateral surface of the MCF and calculates the absolute position of each core. This connecting device can ascertain the absolute position of each core based on a lateral surface image of the MCF in a rotated state. By fabricating a waveguide on a glass substrate to which a connection is being made such that the waveguide matches the absolute position of the core, rotational and positional deviations of the MCF can be eliminated and connection losses can be reduced.
