Abstract:
Provided is a cup seal for a compressor that is excellent in mechanical properties such as frictional wear properties and tensile elongation at break. A cup seal 1 for a compressor is used in a reciprocating compressor that has a piston and a cylinder and that compresses gas by reciprocating motion of the piston. The cup seal is fixed to the piston and press-fitted to the inside diameter of the cylinder to create an airtight seal between the piston and the cylinder, and the cup seal is composed of a resin composition. The resin composition contains polytetrafluoroethylene resin as a main component, aromatic polyester resin powder, and carbon fibers having an aspect ratio of 3–15.
