Abstract:
A cutting insert according to one embodiment of the present invention is prism shaped, and is characterized by having a top surface, a bottom surface, and a side surface which is positioned between the top surface and the bottom surface, a cutting blade being formed at a line of intersection of the top surface and the side surface, the top surface having a convex main part which has a flat top-end surface, a first protruding part protruding from the main part toward a corner part of the top surface, and a pair of second protruding parts each protruding from the first protruding part toward a peripheral edge of the top surface on either side of a region between a distal end and corner part of the first protruding part, and each top end of the pair of second protruding parts being separated from the first protruding part.
