A cylindrical linear motor (1) of the present invention is provided with: a core (7) having a cylindrical yoke (7a) and a plurality of salient poles (7b) and formed of a magnetic body, said salient poles (7b) being annular and provided by being arranged along the axial direction on either the inner circumference or the outer circumference of the yoke (7a); and a plurality of permanent magnets (6a, 6b) that are annular and attached to the core (7) such that N-pole and S-pole alternately appear in the axial direction. The cylindrical linear motor (1) also comprises: a core assembly body (5) in which a section-with-magnet (S1) in which the permanent magnets (6a, 6b) are installed and a section-without-magnet (S2, S3) in which the salient poles (7b, 7b) are provided but the permanent magnets (6a, 6b) are not installed are provided; and an armature (2) having a plurality of windings (4) that are disposed on the salient pole (7b) side of the inner circumference or the outer circumference of the core assembly body (5), relatively movable with respect to the core assembly body (5) in the axial direction, provided side by side in the axial direction of the core assembly body (5), and face the core assembly body (5) in the radial direction.
