Abstract:
A washing machine is disclosed. A damper included in the disclosed washing machine comprises: a cylinder; a piston of which at least a portion is inserted into the cylinder so as to be movable; a friction member coming in contact with the piston; an elastic member, which can be deformed to press the friction member so that frictional force applied by the friction member to the piston is changed; a motor for generating power so that the elastic member can be deformed; and a transmission device which can transmit, to the elastic member, the power generated by the motor, and which includes a disc pressing the elastic member by means of the rotation thereof, thereby enabling the elastic member to be deformed.
