Abstract:
A data compression method and apparatus, a computer device, and a storage medium. The method comprises: obtaining the current load condition of a storage system (S202); when the current load condition meets a preset compression requirement, determining whether the data of an object to be compressed stored in a non-compression region is being read and written (S204); when the data of the object to be compressed is not being read and written, performing compression on the data of the object to be compressed, forbidding the data of the object to be compressed from being read and written when metadata corresponding to the object to be compressed is processed during compression, and allowing the data of the object to be compressed to be read and written when the data of the object to be compressed is compressed (S206); and storing the compressed data into a compression region (S208). By means of the method, data compression and a read-write operation both can be considered.
