Abstract:

Provided are a data processing device, method, and program which can disperse a burst error for both of the internal code and the external code of a product code. A block-unit interleaver performs an interleave A on ND × NB × NA bits among the product codes and then an interleave B on (NC-ND) × NB × NA bits as a parity portion of the internal code indicated in P among the product codes. The interleave A inputs data for each NB bits (i.e., for each of the blocks) in the order in the column direction as one of the directions and performs read-out in the order obliquely toward the lower right direction. Next, the interleave B inputs data for each NB bits in the order in the column direction as one of the directions and performs read-out in the order in the row direction as the other direction. The present invention may be applied, for example, to a recording/reproduction device.
