A dentition image capturing system comprises: a plurality of lighting devices each emitting light from a different direction; an image capture device for capturing a first and a second dentition image under different lighting conditions and with a predetermined exposure time; a high-brightness region extracting unit for extracting a high-brightness region with respect to each of the first and second dentition images; a high-brightness region comparing unit for calculating a similarity level indicating the level of similarity between the high-brightness regions of the first and second dentition images; a halation region identifying unit for identifying, if the similarity level is lower than a predetermined similarity level threshold value, the high-brightness region of the first dentition image as a halation region; an image synthesizing process unit for performing an image synthesizing process in which a trimming region in the second dentition image corresponding to the halation region is extracted, and the halation region is replaced with the trimming region; and a dentition image output unit for outputting the first dentition image that has been subjected to the image synthesizing process.
