Abstract:
A method is described in which hydroxyacetals or hydroxyacetal mixtures are used for catalytic C-O-C linking reactions to form ethers, especially by telomerizing diene systems, wherein palladium-(0) complexes are used as catalysts, carbonylating olefins with rhodium-(0) complexes and reacting the same with the hydroxyacetals or hydroxyacetal mixtures, and dimerizing the hydroxyacetals or hydroxyacetal mixtures with ruthenium-(0) complexes while eliminating water. The method allows the carbon chain of the hydroxyacetal or hydroxyacetal mixture used to be extended by several C atoms, the calorific value of the products to be increased, and the evaporation temperature to be lowered. The products can be used as fuels, solvents, detergents, cosmetics, softeners, stabilizers, pharmaceuticals, fungicides and microbicides, flavors, intermediate products, and as additives in various fields of application.
