Abstract:

A design assistance device for a steering device arranges, in a three- dimensional space, a handle position reference point coordinates, a coordinates of a first universal joint reference point, a coordinates of a second universal joint reference point, and a coordinates of a steering gear reference point. The design assistance device calculates a reference axis passing from the first universal joint reference point to the second universal joint reference point, and; calculates a phase angle which is an angle between a straight line from the handle position reference point to the first joint reference point as seen from the reference axis, and a straight line from the second joint reference point to the steering gear reference point as seen from the reference axis. The design assistance device determines whether a condition is established wherein a tolerance level range for a rate of variability of a permissible torque includes a tolerance level range for a phase angle allowable error.
