Abstract:
The present invention relates to a device for detecting an internal defect of a battery cell, the device comprising: a time domain reflectometry (TDR) module which applies an electric pulse into the battery cell and compares a measured waveform, generated by sensing a reflection of the electric pulse, with a reference waveform to detect whether a defect exists; and a signal line which electrically connects the TDR module to an electrode lead of the battery cell, wherein the electric pulse is propagated in the longitudinal direction of the battery cell. In addition, the present invention relates to a method for detecting an internal defect of a battery cell.
