Abstract:
The present invention relates to a device and method for driving a motor for a washing machine that may selectively rotate a pulsator and a spin-drying tank having a motor for a washing machine in a double rotor-double stator configuration without using a separate clutch. The present invention includes: a motor control unit that generates a driving signal in response to a washing control signal to control the driving of the motor for a washing machine; an inverter that generates three-phase AC power according to the control of the motor control unit and outputs the generated power to a first three-phase stator coil for rotating an outer rotor and a second three-phase stator coil for rotating an inner rotor in the motor for the washing machine; and a rotor driving control unit that is installed between the inverter and the second three-phase stator coil and regulates the direction of rotation of the inner rotor while blocking or passing the three-phase AC power according to the control of the motor control unit.
