Title:
DEVICE FOR WAVELENGTH CONVERSION AND OPTICAL COMPUTING
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2002/103450
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A device comprises a nonlinear optical crystal (1) having a periodic polarization inversion structure for wavelength conversion and&sol or optical computing. The group velocity matching condition is so determined that the group velocity of an input light L1 matches that of an output light L2, and the polarization inversion period of the periodic polarization inversion structure is so determined that the pseudo−phase matching condition for wavelength conversion and&sol or optical computing is met. The problem attributed to the difference in group velocity caused when the wavelength of a light pulse is converted is solved, thereby providing a preferable device for wavelength conversion and optical computing.
