Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a head-up display having enhanced evenness of display image luminance. This head-up display (10a) is provided with: a backlight unit (21a) having a light source, the backlight unit (21a) emitting illumination light; a liquid crystal display element (22a) for displaying an image, the image being irradiated by the illumination light (110, 120, 130), whereby the liquid crystal display element (22a) emits display light (L); a control means (40) for controlling the illuminance of the backlight unit (21a) and display by the liquid crystal display element (22a); a housing (50) having an opening through which the display light (L) passes, the housing (50) housing the liquid crystal display element (22a) and the backlight unit (21a); and a cover glass (33) for reflecting and/or transmitting in at least one location in a display light path and projecting the reflected and/or transmitted display light (L).
