Abstract:
Provided is a display device in which ghosting can be inhibited from occurring. A polarizing plate (14a) is disposed so as to be adjacent to a display unit (12). A 1/4 wavelength plate (16a) is disposed so as to be adjacent to the polarizing plate (14a). A polarizing plate (14b) is disposed so as to be adjacent to a lens (20). A 1/4 wavelength plate (16b) is disposed so as to be adjacent to the polarizing plate (14b). A beam splitter (18) is disposed between the 1/4 wavelength plate (16a) and the 1/4 wavelength plate (16b). The beam splitter (18) is disposed at such a position that an air-equivalent optical path length of light (22a) that is reflected by the polarizing plate (14b) and then reflected by the beam splitter (18) from emission of the light (22a) from the display unit (12) to transmission of the light (22a) through the lens (20), is equal to an air-equivalent optical path length of light (22b) that is reflected by the beam splitter (18) and then reflected by the polarizing plate (14a) from emission of the light (22b) from the display unit (12) to transmission of the light (22b) through the lens (20).
