Provided are a display substrate and display apparatus, the display substrate comprising a base substrate (10), the base substrate (10) having a storage capacitor, the storage capacitor comprising: a metal layer common electrode (20); a first insulating layer (30), at least partially covering the base substrate (10), and a via being provided at the position of the common electrode (20) corresponding to the metal layer; a transparent electrode layer (40), at least partially covering the first insulating layer (30), and connected to the metal layer common electrode (20) by way of the via; a second insulating layer (31), covering the transparent electrode layer (40); a pixel electrode (50), at least partially covering the second insulating layer (31). The transparent electrode layer (40) is lapped to the metal layer common electrode (20), increasing the area of the electrode on the side adjacent to the substrate (10), and increasing the storage capacity of the capacitor; since the transparent electrode layer (40) is at least partially covered by the first insulating layer (30), the insulating layer covering the transparent electrode layer (40) is thinner, further increasing the storage capacity of the capacitor. Because of the addition of the transparent electrode layer, there can also be a common electrode in the display area, and it does not affect the transmittance.
