Abstract:
Provided is a directly modulated laser (DML) driver capable of improving the band of electrical-to-optical (EO) response characteristics, while suppressing a group delay at or around a relaxation oscillation frequency of a laser diode (LD). The DML driver is composed of a post driver 2 which supplies a drive current to an LD 1, and a pre-driver 3 which drives the post driver 2 in accordance with a modulation signal. The pre-driver 3 is composed of a transistor M1, a peaking inductor L1, a peaking inductor L2, an inductor Lx for suppressing group delay, and a peaking capacitor Cx.
