The invention relates to a door arrester (16), in particular for a fire door (15), for temporarily opening or closing a door leaf (14), which is revolvably or slidably mounted to a structure (12), comprising a main body (32) accommodating a latch (34) and an actuating element (25) coupled thereto. The actuating element (25) comprises a pre-tensioned element (28) and a damping element (30), wherein the latch (34) is pivotably arranged on the main body (32) and can be moved between an inoperative position (18) and a tensioned position (19). The pre-tensioned element (28) of the actuating element (25) pre-tensions the latch (34) in the direction of the inoperative position (18) of the latch (34), and a movement of the latch (34) from the tensioned position (19) in the direction of the inoperative position (18) can be delayed by the damping element (30). A bolt (26) having a fastening segment (24) is provided, which can be locked in a U-shaped receptacle (38) of the latch (34) after the latch (34) is transferred from the inoperative position (18) to the tensioned position (19), and which can be unlocked in the opposite moving direction of the latch (34) from the tensioned position (19) to the inoperative position (18).
