Abstract:
The present invention concerns a new type of driving device, particularly such a device used for bicycles that it can save labour, increase speed and eliminate dead points. The device includes a main shaft, a countershaft, a left crank fixed on the left end of the main shaft, as well as a right crank and a toothed disc both fixed on the right end of the main shaft. There are mounted successively on the main shaft a rotatable left-gear, a fixed gear, a centre gear, a rotatable right-gear and main bearings, while mounted securely on the countershaft counter-bearings and a series of gears which engage with main shaft gears respectively, wherein the two sets of gears located centrally is symmetrical about each other and there is a partial gear in each set of gears, so that the angle a between said two cranks is 90° <&agr < 180°. With this kind of device, it is possible to make full use of the treading force on the pedal and to pass the dead-zone within a pedaling cycle actively with a smooth force, thereby improving the mechanical efficiency.
