Abstract:
[Problem] For an electric power-assisted bicycle, to perform assist control corresponding to pedal pressing force, without complicating a structure for detecting the pedal pressing force or requiring modifications of the bicycle. [Solution] An electric power-assist device has: a dynamic brake circuit (inverter 126) connected to an electric motor 58 for generating assist force; a rotation angle sensor 134 for detecting the crank rotation angle of a crankshaft 24; a current sensor 140 for detecting the current value in the electric motor 58; a dynamic brake control unit 130 that, when the crank rotation angle is within a predetermined range, stops supply of current from a battery 122 to the electric motor 58 and brings a dynamic brake circuit into an ON state; a pressing force estimate calculation unit 154 for estimating a pedal pressing force of a bicycle 10 from the reverse current value due to back electromotive force detected by the current sensor 140 when the dynamic brake circuit is in the ON state; and a motor driving control unit 164 for controlling driving of the electric motor 58 in accordance with the pedal pressing force estimated by the pressing force estimate calculation unit 154.
