The electrical power converter (1) according to the present invention is configured to cause a switching means (12) to perform an off operation when a switching means (44) is performing an on operation, and to cause the operation of a DC load (30) to stop when a switching current detected by a switching current detection means (45) is determined to be not more than a preset current value.
