Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide an electrode catalyst that can exhibit sufficient performance when used as a fuel cell. An electrode catalyst containing a catalyst component that contains a first transition metal M1 and a second transition metal M2 as constituent elements, and an electrically conductive material, wherein the electrode catalyst includes particles containing as constituent elements the first transition metal M1, the second transition metal M2, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, and sulfur, the hydrogen content and nitrogen content being less than 1%, and a sulfide of the first transition metal M1, and the second transition metal M2 being observed on the surface of the particles.
