Abstract:

A metal powder, a metal compound power or a conductive ceramic powder is compressed and molded into a green compact. Using the green compact as an electrode, pulse discharge is caused between the electrode and a work in a treatment liquid or in the air. The discharge energy helps to form a coating film of the electrode material or that of the substance produced through the reaction with the electrode material causing by the discharge energy. The electrode for discharge surface treatment is characterized in that the sizes of the granules in the green compact where the metal powder, metal compound powder, or conductive ceramic powder in the green compact agglomerates is agglomerated is smaller than the distance between the electrode and the work.
