Abstract:
An electrode wire for electrical discharge machining and a manufacturing method therefor, the electrode wire comprising a core material and a surface metal layer, a transition layer being provided between the core material and the surface metal layer, the core material having a main component of brass alloy and a balance of zinc and inevitable impurities; the composition of the surface metal layer is zinc oxide and a balance of copper and inevitable impurities; the transition layer is provided between the core material and the surface metal layer, the main component of the transition layer being copper-zinc alloy; irregular cracks are distributed on the zinc oxide layer. The manufacturing method for the electrode wire mainly comprises the steps of preparing an alloy wire billet, cold rolling, softening annealing, plastic elongation processing, surface deposition, elongation annealing, surface treatment, wire winding, quality inspection, and packaging and shipping. Said manufacturing method is intensive, has high production efficiency and controllable surface processing, and the electrode wire manufactured can improve cutting efficiency, machining yield, and cutting quality.
