Abstract:
This electrolyte membrane/electrode assembly comprises an electrolyte membrane, an anode catalyst layer arranged on one of the surfaces on either side of the electrolyte membrane, and a cathode catalyst layer arranged on the other surface. The cathode catalyst layer has a catalyst that is constituted from a carrier, catalyst particles, and an ionomer. The catalyst arrangement is such that the moisture adsorption performance of the catalyst increases the further the catalyst is to the upstream or downstream side of the fluid flowing through the cathode catalyst layer, and that the moisture adsorption performance of the catalyst decreases the further the catalyst is to the other side.
