Abstract:

Provided is an electromagnetic relay having improved cut-off capacity and which is capable of stably cutting off an arc. The electromagnetic relay (1) is provided with a fixed contact holder (12), a movable contact holder (14), an electromagnet device (A10), and magnets (17, 18). The fixed contact holder (12) extends in a prescribed direction, and is provided with a fixed contact (11). The movable contact holder (14) extends in a prescribed direction, and is provided with a movable contact (13). The magnets (17,18) are arranged in a direction orthogonal to the opening/closing directions of the fixed contact (11) and the movable contact (13). An extension space (E1) in which a generated arc is extended between the fixed contact (11) and the movable contact (13) is provided in front of the tip ends of the fixed contact holder (12) and the movable contact holder (14) in a prescribed direction. Furthermore, the extension space (E1) is provided respectively facing a surface (12b) of the fixed contact holder (12), and a surface (14b) of the movable contact holder (14).
