Abstract:
Various embodiments of the present invention relate to a device and a method for providing an RCS function in an electronic device. The electronic device may comprise a memory, a communication circuit, and at least one processor, wherein the processor: identifies whether a message of a second type different from a first type is received from an external electronic device when the electronic device supports a message of the first type; and on the basis of the reception of the message of the second type from the external electronic device, performs a function exchange with the external electronic device when it is determined, on the basis of a function of the external electronic device, that the external electronic device supports the message of the first type. Other embodiments may also be possible.
