Abstract:
An elevator system is provided which can detect when an elevator car overshoots, going beyond the position where a limit switch operates. This elevator system is provided with: a limit switch which is provided in the upper or lower part of a hoistway and which operates when an elevator car 3 overshoots a terminal floor; a conductive wire 8 which is provided along the guide rail that guides movement of a counterweight 4; a contact 12 which is conductive, is attached to the counterweight 4 and contacts the conductive wire 8 if the counterweight 4 moves away from the guide rail; an overshoot detection contact which is conductive, is attached to the conductive wire 8 in the upper or lower part of the hoistway, whichever is the side opposite of the limit switch, and is arranged in a position so as to contact the contact 12 if the elevator car 3 moves beyond the position where the limit switch operates; and an overshoot detection unit 28 which is provided in a control board 5 electrically connected to the conductive wire 8 and which detects when the contact 12 contacts the overshoot detection contact.
