Abstract:
[Problem] The purpose of the present invention is to provide: an emulsion composition that realizes excellent heat-sealability; an aqueous coating agent containing said emulsion composition; and a method for producing the emulsion composition. [Solution] This emulsion composition is characterized by comprising a copolymer (B) that satisfies all of conditions (1)-(5). (1) Including at least 90 mass% of a (meth)acrylic acid ester in a structural unit of the copolymer (B). (2) Including 35-55 mass% of a methyl methacrylate as a structural unit of the copolymer (B). (3) Including 15-55 mass% of butyl acrylate as a structural unit of the copolymer (B). (4) The glass transition temperature (Tg) as calculated from the proportion of monomers constituting the copolymer (B) being -20°C to 15°C. (5) The molecular weight distribution (weight average molecular weight Mw/number average molecular weight Mn) of the copolymer (B) being in a range of 9-15.
